Motivation Needs To Feel Good. 

Motivation for losing weight comes from positive emotions carrying you forward to your goal and your dream body. 

Motivation comes from the word “emotion” — you can hear they have a similar root to those two words.  And that means that your emotions are either going to give you motivation or take motivation away from you.  Lasting motivation really comes from wanting, desiring and enjoying the journey of losing weight.

The reason why people can’t stick with a weight loss program is because they are torturing themselves.

They are fighting against themselves.  They are destroying their energy by constantly feeling guilty and feeling overwhelmed.

And you wonder why you don’t have any energy to eat healthy foods or exercise?

… Well, it’s because all of your motivation is being zapped out with negative thinking, and the negative thinking is gonna take a hold of you. 

It may seem like no big deal because it’s not really doing anything to you… at least not that you can see.

While it may be hard to understand, your emotions have a very powerful effect on your energy levels on a day-to-day basis.

Cutting Out Negative Thinking Is A HUGE Key
To Staying Motivated In Your Weight Loss Journey

It’s not that negative thinking is bad because we don’t really wanna say ‘this is good and this is bad’ because if you are labeling things as good or bad you might have a tendency to label yourself as “I’m good when I do this” or “I’m bad when I do this”…

That’s not gonna help you to lose weight.

You are always good.

You are always perfect.

And when you do something that you learn from – in my mind that’s a win!

Even the biggest failures are the greatest opportunities for growth so those are good when you realize that.

That’s what I discovered in this journey of losing weight the natural way and keeping it off for over 10 years now.

 

You’ll know that it’s negative thinking if it drains your energy levels.

Here’s what I look for:

• Do I have more energy when I think this thought, or does it make me tired or depressed? 

• Do my shoulders start to slouch forward?

• Does my posture change?

• Does my breathing stop?

I notice these things about the different thoughts that I’m having, and if it is taking energy away from me then I see it as “negative” – meaning it’s draining.

It’s like a negative charge that’s draining energy from me.  


Most people don’t realize that constantly beating themselves up in their head with guilt, and regret, and blame… and all the attacking that you do to your body when you’re not supportive of your body or when you’re not excited about what your body is doing for you, and all you’re thinking about is all the problems with your body – that’s gonna drain your motivation and be draining your energy all the time!

Don’t you want to feel good while you’re losing weight?  

 The tips for feeling good and staying motivated is to start with watching your thoughts.

Thoughts lead to emotions, and it’s usually easier to turn it around when you’re thinking it instead of when it has already become a negative emotion and it’s draining your energy.

Ask yourself this question, ‘Would I say this to my best friend?’

… if you wouldn’t say it to your best friend then don’t say it to your body.  Don’t say it to yourself.

If for some reason you maybe have destructive or difficult relationships with your friends and maybe you are caught in a negative dance or negative spiral with your friends…

I would first reconsider your friendship and find positive people in your life that you’ll want to build up and that you show up as a great friend for them – that’s the key to attracting great friends, it’s to be a great friend.

I would start there, just start being really, super encouraging and positive.  Be uplifting to your friends and really use that as an opportunity to practice your own self loving voice.

Treat your body like your best friend.

Treat your body like your child.

Forgive your body when it makes mistakes, when it has a difficult time and be gentle because this journey of losing weight – I think you’ve discovered by now that there is no pill and there is no procedure.

It’s just not gonna happen.   The diet and weight loss industry have been searching and experimenting for decades and spending billions of dollars doing it.  If we were gonna find a quick fix for losing weight, it would’ve happened a long time ago! 

So this is the only path that really works – being natural, loving, and patient.

The amazing thing about this journey is that you learn so much about yourself because if you’re a person who has been beating up your body and attacking yourself, I promise that’s gonna show up in other areas of your life as well – not just your body that is crying out for attention and for love.

I’m sure other areas of your life will be affected if they haven’t already. So learning how to have a positive internal voice – this is actually going to increase your motivation so it’s the opposite of negative thinking that zaps your energy and zaps your motivation

Positive thinking explodes your energy and motivation!

The more positive thoughts and emotions you have, it drives more and more motivation in. It’s an upward spiral.

Every time you walk by a mirror say something nice to your reflection, “I love you”, “Wow what an amazing person you are”, “You are so curious about health you want to be healthy, happy, and positive”, or “You are on your perfect path”.

What a gift it is that you want this!  What an amazing person you are!  You are wanting to give your body the greatest gift of life – of pure clean and natural health.  So when you’re looking at yourself in the mirror, or when you’re talking about your body, focus on that.

Think about the things about you that you love. Think about the times that you’ve forgiven yourself. Think about the times that you wanted to give up but you kept trying. Think about all the times that you just keep going.

 

 

You haven’t given up.  You wouldn’t be reading this now.

The more you focus on the positive things about yourself, about your body and about this natural weight loss journey, the more motivation you’re going to have.

You’re going to be drawing in more and more energy… so this is the upward spiral.

This is why it gets easier and easier. The longer you keep the weight off, the easier and easier it gets to keep the weight off.

I’m not afraid of gaining weight anymore. I’ve kept it off long enough to know that every year of my life I get healthier, and thinner, and fitter, and more flexible, and stronger, and I get more and more positive.

I get more and more caring towards my body.

What an amazing journey!  And that is why I know for sure that this works.

I have more motivation than ever and it just continues to get stronger and stronger.

When you are jump starting your motivation, you need to look at your internal thoughts around this journey.

MOTIVATION EXERCISE: What Are Your Top 10 Benefits Of Losing Weight?…

Write down a list of the top 10 things you are going to receive as a result of losing weight.  Take a moment and think about that.

Then take that top 10 list and put that on your mirror, computer, car, and refrigerator – put it everywhere you are going to see it because this is YOUR top 10 list to keep you motivated.

This is what matters to YOU, and this is what you use for your own internal motivation, and no one else can tell you how to do it.

You have to figure out how to motivate yourself and aligning yourself with what really matters to you, that’s the best way to do it.  For extra motivation and support, list your top 10 list below!

The Obesity Epidemic In America Has Skyrocketed Over The Last 40 Years

Is it our genetics?

Why didn’t your grandmother and your great grandmother gain weight as easily as we do?

And up until recently, there was this really big mystery about why the Europeans weren’t getting fat.

I mean here the French are eating all those buttery croissants and all those cream-filled sauces and they weren’t getting fat like Americans, up until recently and now they’re getting fatter just like us.

So what’s changed? Well sure, there’s the super sized portions that has something to do with it.

But the main difference between what your grandmother grew up eating and what you’re eating today is the chemicals.

The Chemicals That They’re Putting In Food Is The Prime Suspect For Why We Keep Getting Fatter And Fatter As A Nation And Now The World. 

At the grocery store and in the bread aisle and I found this particular kind of bread.

I’m not going to tell you the label of it because I don’t want to get sued, but basically the name actually has earth in it. So they’re trying to imply that it’s natural and healthy and it’s from the earth.

But when you look at the ingredients on the back, the place where they can’t just fudge and put anything, there’s high fructose corn syrup which is a super sugar that has contributed largely to the obesity epidemic.

There’s also mono and diglycerides, sodium carbonate, calcium propionate, which are preservative.

 A frozen dinner has the name healthy in its label and it also has a picture of a man running, I guess it’s a like fitness food or something.

But when you look closer at the ingredients, it actually says that there’s enriched flour, which means a processed food that used to be wheat and also a polysorbate 80.

Thank god it’s not polysorbate 79, right?  

Another one called ‘smart’.

You’ve got to be smart in order to pronounces the things on the label!

A dessert that advertises it’s low calorie and fat free and perfect for dieters. Well, there are exactly two ingredients out of 20 that I can recognize, how is this good for you?  

Next is the salad dressings and a salad is one of the healthiest foods you can eat, right? Well not if you put this dressing on it because this even says that it’s light and low calorie, but actually it’s full of chemicals like propylene glycol, alginate, potassium sorbate, calcium disodium, EDTA, what is that stuff? Plus, Sulfate, sodium, stearoyl lactylate, mono and diglycerides.

This is one product is what you’re going to feed your kids and it has corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. It has epoxylated mono and diglycerides, ammonium sulfate.

Diet Sodas Used Chemicals That Are Obesity-Genic

A lot of people drink diet sodas when they’re on a diet because they have zero calories, but these are loaded with chemicals and they’ve now discovered that these chemicals they used to sweeten the sodas are obesity-genic.

Meaning they make you fat.

Okay. Let’s lookat the  ingredients on the Broccoli.

I can’t find a label anywhere, right?

Maybe because it only has one ingredient, it’s only broccoli!

That makes sense.

So the best foods to eat are the foods that have no labels at all.

Meaning that there’s only one ingredient.

These are natural foods.  These are the healthiest foods for your body, for your health, and for your life.

And while it may be hard to eat only natural foods, just make a habit of reading the ingredients on every food that you eat.

Look out for chemicals, be aware of what these chemicals are doing to you, and if possible eliminate them from your diet.

You’ll see results really fast.

By cutting these chemicals out of your diet, you’re going to lose weight and have amazing health.

But by buying food without chemicals, you’re also voting with your dollar and you’re telling these big corporations that we don’t want chemicals in our food.

So not only you will save your health, but it will also save your community and the rest of the world.

You eat foods that you are ashamed of, and then you are flooded with guilt and promise yourself you’ll never eat it again.

This only increases the shame the next time you do it, and magnifies the guilt even more.It’s a downward spiral.

And when I see people going through this, I want to give them the tools to dig themselves out.

It Starts With The Food…

If you’re eating foods that are zapping your energy and your “feel good” hormones that your body and brain are TRYING to produce…

Then you will never be able to make these positive hormones, and you’ll be iserable in body, mind, heart, and spirit.

“I am taking care of my body like I’ve never done it before, and listening closely to what it needs”.

The body is here to communicate deep wisdom and understanding about your internal state of health.

It’s speaking to you all the time, but the “noise” from other things – like your mind, the traffic, the electrical lines buzzing around your home – these all create noise vibrations that silence out the softer whisper of your body.

What Is Your Body Saying To You?

Body language sounds different to every person, and yours may show up completely differently…

All that matters is that you listen. I can never be reminded of this enough. I just learned an important lesson about my body…

I woke up yesterday feeling dizzy and having a bit of vertigo. I kept thinking it would go away, and that I just needed to “push” myself a little further so I kept going, going, going…

Eventually, my boyfriend looked at me and said, “You’re completely crooked! Your shoulders are way out of alignment.” I looked in the mirror, and sure enough, it was like I was standing on a 2-inch step, the left shoulder was tilted straight up towards my ear.

I went to the chiropractor and he said that I had popped 2 ribs out of alignment, and that I was “corkscrewed” all the way up to the top. My body was trying to tell me something was “off”, but I refused to listen.

I Had Completely Tuned Out My Body

I was completely unaware that I was tilted that much, and I had been moving through my day just “adjusting” and “denying” that anything was out of whack.
I don’t know what I would’ve done if my boyfriend didn’t point it out to me. How long could I have gone living like that?

The doctor adjusted me, and I now have a greater awareness about my body’s alignment and what it’s trying to communicate with me at all times. Our job is to listen, the body will do the rest.

And so I’m telling you this story to ask you… Where are you out of alignment? What is your body trying to tell you?

“Controlling” Your Body In A More Loving, Accepting Way

Take some time tonight to listen. Before you go to sleep, spend some time tuning in, quieting the chatter of your mind, and really absorbing the subtle vibrations that your body is sending you.

– Maybe taking a bath with healing aromatherapy oils or salts will help you to relax deeper.

– Listening to soft music like they play in spas and yoga studios will also deepen the effect.

And when you’re in that open, relaxed state…

– Grab your journal and let your pen guide you to a greater awareness. Letting go of our thoughts through writing it out will help you to shuffle through all the noise inside your mind.

As you are sifting and shedding these thoughts, consciously decide which ones you keep, and which ones you let go of.

You are not your thoughts. You are something far greater. The thoughts will come and go like passing clouds in the sky…

And as your mind clears of all this noise and chatter, your true voice will emerge. You will hear the needs of your body, and the loving, gentle whisper of your spirit, guiding you to greater peace and surrender.

This is where you will find your true power to “control your body” from a loving, gentle, accepting place inside of you.

Turns out, this is the voice and vibration that is also very healing for your body. You will be able to speak more lovingly of your body, and your body will feel this loving acceptance.

You will feel less guilt, more openness, and more acceptance of the miracle that IS your body right now in this very moment. If this feels “right” to you, then you can continue to go deeper…

Here’s another mantra to practice, “Thank you spirit for this deep connection to my body”. As you practice this mantra, you will hear your body whispering and guiding you more and more to greater and greater health.

Where is your body asking for love?

Listen closely, and receive the message without judgement or shame. Receive the message, and open to shine the healing light vibration onto your body…

You will see your body open and blossom like a flower reaching to the sunlight.

I’m sending you a healing, peaceful vibration of light to surround you from within. May your body find it’s voice, and may your spirit shine with it’s true radiance and divine light.

Sometimes Loneliness Makes You Feel Hungry… 

Link Between Emotions And Hunger.

“Loneliness Is The Absence Of Another. Aloneness Is The Presence Of Oneself.”

Loneliness can be one of the most powerful emotions – it’s no wonder you want to run away from it! Here’s where this all came from… 

So when you feel “aloneness” this is actually positive feeling – of being content in being with yourself and yourself alone.

According to Osho, a teacher and philosopher, “We must all be our own light to ourselves, and find our way along this journey of life.”

Pretty deep, huh?…

That got me thinking about how emotional eating often starts from feelings of loneliness.

Here’s When Emotion Eating Starts:

1. When we are craving comfort,it is often because we are overwhelmed with the emotions that are coming up for us in that moment.

Maybe it’s feeling like you’re “not good enough” to be loved, or to be deserving of being loved by another.

2. When you are surrounded by people, but no one “gets” you the way you see yourself…the room can be full of people, but still you feel lonely.

When you have a connection to your center, in the deepest part of yourself, it doesn’t matter who else is present or not present.

You are content in your “aloneness” because you can feel the presence of your truest self that is with you all the time. When you can SIT and BE with your emotions, whether they are positive, negative, or neutral… This develops TRUST with yourself.

You TRUST that your heart can express all it’s emotions and purest truth in the moment – in it’s fullest expression. When you don’t run away from your heart’s voice and your emotions, you become comfortable in being “alone”.

In fact, you begin to treasure that time as a sacred time that you get to tune in and LISTEN to the quiet calling of your heart’s voice. The next time you are feeling “loneliness”, instead of running to food to escape…

Give Yourself The LOVE That Your Heart Is Asking For Whether you find it in another person or not, that will be a GIFT instead of a “condition” that you need for your own happiness. As Osho says, “Be your own light. Be a light unto yourself.”

Practice listening to your inner voice, your inner wisdom. It is speaking to you now. It may feel overwhelming and scary at times… and that’s a GOOD thing!

The path will take you to places where you can’t expect, and you will feel powerless. This is a sign that you are growing. That you are expanding, and leaning into “your edge”.

This is where all growth happens. In that place where it is unfamiliar, strange, and even scary (if you choose to see that perspective), you can feel like running away from it…

Or you can choose to see it as an adventure. A journey that you are embracing. Exploring every corner and angle of your heart. Even those dark, scary places that when you find them, you want to run away from them…

Anything to distract you from your inner voice – whether it’s food or another person…

It’s still a distraction!

Being distracted with another thing or person is a sure way to avoid whatever your heart is whispering to you.

Being able to be “alone” with your thoughts and with yourself is one of the greatest tools you will have to overcome emotional eating.

As long as you are running away from your heart’s voice – these things that come up as emotions – will only get louder.

Be quiet in your “aloneness”. Embrace your quiet time.

And when your feelings of “loneliness” come up, remember that is all an illusion. Loneliness is longing for something or someone else… aloneness is being content with yourself.

Feeling Tightness In Your Shoulders and neck?

Do this quick 30 second exercise and watch the tension melt away…

- Shoulder Rolling Exercise -

Take a ~deep breath~

~Exhale~ let all the air exit from your lungs

~Inhale~ as you roll the tops of your shoulders up towards your ears

~Exhale~ as you roll your shoulders back and down away from your ears

~Inhale~ as you roll your shoulders forward and back up towards your ears

~Exhale~ as you roll your shoulders back and down away from your ears

~Inhale~ as you roll your shoulders forward and back up towards your ears

~Exhale~ as you roll your shoulders back and down away from your ears

Now, leave your shoulders in this position with the tops of your shoulders dropping down and away from your ears.

Notice how much more space you have in your neck, shoulders, and upper back.

Repeat until you have released all the tension you are carrying.

Why is this so important?…

The less tension you have, the less stress you have… And the less stress you have, the less you run to food for emotional comfort…

And the less emotional eating you engage in, the less extra weight you will carry around your hips, thighs, belly and buttocks.

Funny, how it can all start with a simple relaxation exercise. Once you do this, you will want to do it every day!

Practice.

And enjoy the space and freedom in your shoulders, neck, and upper back.
