There is so much conflicting information out
there about carbohydrates. If you're like I was
when I first set out to get healthy and lose
weight, then you have lots of questions --
Are carbs good for me?
Are carbs bad for me?
Should I eat a low-carb diet or a high-carb
diet?
What is a "good carb"?
What is a "bad carb"?
How can I tell them apart?
In the next 2 newsletters, you're going to get
answers to all your carb questions.
I've done A LOT of research on this, I've
observed A LOT of different women on different
diets, and I've been experimenting on MYSELF for
years with what works and what doesn't work.
I'm going to tell it to you straight. I'm not
here to sell you some carb-blocker pill or some
low-carb diet meals...
I'm just here to give you information so
you can start paying attention to YOUR OWN BODY,
and so you can start making choices for YOURSELF.
This is what true health is all about.
When you have the RIGHT information, you have
the RIGHT power to guarantee you will have a
LIFETIME of HEALTH.
Because this is such an important topic with
so much confusion around it, I'm going to break up
this topic into 2 newsletters.
First, I'm going to tell you the TRUTH about
what carbs are healthy and how you should be
eating them for maximum health and weight loss.
Then, in the next newsletter, I'm going to
tell you EXACTLY what carbs I eat (and what carbs
I would NEVER eat), and how I eat them on a
daily basis.
So here we go. Let's take the confusion OUT
and get you STRAIGHT on carbs...
>>>> KEEPING YOUR BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS STABLE <<<<
The key to losing weight is to stop your body
from storing fat.
And the way to do this is to keep your blood
sugar levels STABLE, meaning it doesn't go up
too high or down too low.
When your blood sugar level drops down too
low, your body sends a very powerful "EAT NOW"
signal which causes you to have intense cravings
for foods like sugar and starches because your
body knows that those foods will shoot your
blood sugar up quickly. But...
When your blood sugar goes up too high, your
body produces too much of the hormone insulin
which brings your blood sugar back down by
converting it into fat - THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT
TO AVOID!
In order to keep your insulin levels in a
"healthy" range (so you stop making fat) you
have to keep your blood sugar levels stable.
And you do this by eating the RIGHT foods.
>>>> CARBS ARE NECESSARY FOR YOUR HEALTH <<<<
Yes, you can LIMIT your intake of carbs, but
you cannot ELIMINATE carbs completely from your
diet because carbs also include incredibly
important foods like fruits and vegetables.
You need these vitamins, minerals, and
antioxidants from vegetables and fruit to improve
your immune system, fight disease, and prevent
premature ageing.
Have you ever seen someone go on one of those
low-carb or no-carb diets?
I've seen lots.
In the beginning, they are very excited
because they are losing weight fast.
And that's what these diets were designed
to do, but really it is an "illusion" that you
are losing weight, because those fat cells are
still there, only they are shrinking. That's
what all "diets" do and why you always gain the
weight back.
When you stop eating carbs, your body starts
using it's fat-storages for energy. And this
sounds like it would be a good thing... but it
never lasts.
Low-carb diets seem to work short term and
there are a lot of theories as to why. There
is no factual evidence as to why they work, but
they do work short term.
Eventually your body seems to catch on to the
new way that you are eating. And if you're eating
the same amount of calories as you were before,
even though you are not eating carbs, it seems to
make no difference for LONG TERM weight loss.
That said, so many of the carbs in our diet
are the same highly processed foods that I recommend
you cut out of your diet, and that also has a
positive effect on your nutrition. So this
could be one of the reasons for the weight loss.
But when you start cutting out fruit, or
replace the carbs with high-fat foods that
are definitely bad for your health...
Like those diets that tell you it's okay
to eat a cheeseburger as long as you don't eat
the bread... What?! How is that
healthy?
Saturated fats are PROVEN to cause heart
disease, cancer and many other bad diseases.
So, you will never find me giving you advice to
eat cheeseburgers.
I've read all these scientific articles that
have different reasons for why the body loses
weight when you restrict carbs, but the one thing
they all agree on is that it is a very complex
system... and the results never last.
It has been my observation that NO ONE can
go very long without eating carbs. It is just
too hard.
Your body needs those vitamins and minerals.
So when the person goes back to eating carbs,
all those fat cells that got smaller are sill
there and they blow back up VERY fast, just as
fast as they shrank before.
(Do you see the pattern here, that anything
that happens fast can also be UN-DONE fast?)
The KEY is to BALANCE your insulin levels and
STILL eat a healthy amount of carbs.
As long as your insulin levels are balanced,
you will not have the urge to binge on sugary
foods or overeat on fats.
That means not eating carbs that will cause
your blood sugar to go up too high or too fast.
>>>> "GOOD CARBS" VS. "BAD CARBS" <<<<
I've come up with a way for you to QUICKLY and
EASILY decide which carbs are “good” and which are
“bad.”
The worst carbs are easy to identify because,
in general, they are in processed foods like
breads and sugar.
Processed sugars and grains send your blood sugar
skyrocketing because they have been ‘processed’.
Meaning, a machine has stripped them of some of
their natural components like fiber and nutrients,
and broken them down into a new, refined substance
that is much more concentrated into pure carbohydrate
(sometimes called “empty calories”).
The basic rule is, the further your carb has
come from its original plant form, the more of a
“bad carb” it is.
Fruits and vegetables are technically carbs as
well, and leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables
(like broccoli), berries, and sea vegetables
(like the seaweed they wrap sushi in), are not
only the best of the best good carbs… but also the
best foods you can eat period.
In my ebook, I split carbs into 4 groups:
The Best Carbs, the Good Carbs, the Okay Carbs, and
the Cheating Carbs.
I'v done all the work for you. I've taken the
guesswork and confusion out of carbs so you know
how to eat healthy for LIFE.
I'm not interested in shrinking your fat cells
for a few weeks, I want you to LIVE in a body
you are proud of... I want you to have HEALTH
radiating from the INSIDE.
I know that you can do this.
I've helped lots of women get healthy and feel
great about their bodies - without using
dangerous pills or surgeries.
I know that I can help you too.
I know that you're ready to learn what true
health is all about.
Your Friend,
With Light, Love, and Laughter,
Andrea
