Our society and the media is obsessed with “weight loss stories” about people who have succeeded at losing weight.

I get it. It’s very inspiring to hear about other people’s victories and it makes you think, “Hey, I can do that too.”

It’s especially tempting when the media or advertisement promises it to be “easy” to take their approach.

People write to me telling me that they lost “so and so pounds on this diet or with this procedure” and now that they’ve gained all the weight back… Should I do it again?”

And I want to slap myself on the forehead, “What?!”

If you have to go “back-on” a diet program… Or if you have to go back to get “tune-up” procedures…

Then the approach you used did not work. Follow me?

If the weight doesn’t stay off… then it is not a success. It’s a disaster.

Because not only do these methods of losing weight and gaining it back cause your metabolism to be completely destroyed- making it harder and harder to lose weight every time you do it…

But most importantly, they destroy your self-esteem, your hope and your belief in your SELF that you will ever lose the weight for good.

You feel like a failure. You feel like you’re broken. And all this time, it’s not even you.

It’s the common (and dangerous!) approaches to weight loss that are failing you.

Hi,

I am a four year out gastric bypass patient…

Hope you can help me I have loved your newsletter it has helped myself and my sister we try lots of your ideas.

But I am 46 years of age and now seem too have stopped losing weight its almost crazy I got down to 145lbs and now am up to 195lbs I lose 10lbs and then gain them back again its like my body is not wanting to lose anymore please e-mail back if you can give me any advice would love to hear from you my nickname is rosemary.

Dear Rosemary,

Here’s the thing with gastric bypass surgery…

It never addresses the ROOT of the weight gain.

Whenever you have bypass surgery, you are FORCING your body to go into “starvation mode”.

And “starvation mode” is not a healthy place for your body to be in.

When you are in this mode, your body thinks that food has run out (why else would you have stopped eating so drastically?)…

And therefore, your body is doing everything it can to keep you alive while the food is in shortage.

Your body does this by eliminating as much of your muscle as possible (because muscle cells are very hungry cells that require a lot of food and nutrition to keep them alive)…

And this in turn slows down your metabolism.

Meaning that you are running at a slower speed. You have less energy for movement. You have less energy for thinking.   You have less energy for processing your emotions.
When You Starve Yourself, You Are Telling Your Body To Store Fat…
But it’s not your fault.

Our society and the media is obsessed with talking about gastric bypass surgery as the “cure” for people who can’t lose weight.

But no one ever talks about the FACT that people who get the surgery almost always gain back the weight within just a few short years.

That’s because the surgery is trying to trick your body instead of working with it.

So how do you get your body out of starvation mode? By feeding your body and building muscle!

Hi Andrea,

I’ve been doing weight watchers for around 3 months and I have lost almost 30 pounds. It was pretty good, but the last two weeks I don’t know what happen, I started to reach for food without thinking.

Sometimes I ate until I get sick and after that I throw up all the food.

I know that is a big problem. I don’t want to have bulimia, but I need help how control my mind because my stomach is not the problem because I get full pretty easy.

The problem is, I can’t stop my mind telling me reach for food. Please, If you have some words that can help me I will be really thankful to you…

Dear Lulu,

This may surprise you…

Your body and mind are connected. In fact, they are actually one-in-the-same.

This idea that we’ve had in the past that our body is dangling down below and the mind is only in the head – like some kind of stick figure drawing… is wrong!

More and more scientific evidence is proving what some of the ancient cultures have known for thousands of years – the Body and Mind are one.

So how does that help you to control your eating?

When your body is not getting the nutrition that you need, it will send very powerful signals to your mind, “I need food!”

And if you eat food that may be low in calories (or “points” as the Weight Watchers system calls them) in order to lose weight, you are not focusing on what your body needs.
Remember, Your Body Needs Nutrition…. 
Your body needs vitamins, and minerals, and protein, and fat, and carbohydrates, and fiber, and phytonutrients… and all those beautiful things that make natural foods so healthy and nutritious for you.

Your body doesn’t care about calories and it certainly doesn’t care about “points”. And if your body is not getting what it needs, it will do everything it can to get it.

That’s where the intense cravings are coming from. It’s your body screaming out for nutrition.

Your mind has you convinced it’s all about “willpower” and that you should be able to survive on this food that you’re eating because some diet program says so.

But your body does not agree. And that’s where the binge-eating is coming from.  Your body is trying to get nutrition. It’s missing some vitamin or mineral and it needs it…

so if your body can get you to just start eating, then the odds of it getting what it needs are much higher. See how that works?

But here’s where it turns into disaster.

When your body sends out this “Eat Now!” signal, your mind interprets it as “I want french fries and ice cream.” Because your mind, if not guided and directed in the right direction, will mislead you and destroy your health.

But it’s not your mind’s fault either. 

Your mind is mis-interpreting the signals from your body only because it doesn’t know any better…

Yet. Over time, your mind will learn that those cravings are actually coming from a lack of nourishment and NOT some lack of “willpower”.

But it takes time. And that, my friend is the journey that you and I are on together.  I’ll be your guide through it until the end… I promise.

So why are you having such intense cravings now? I would start to look at the ingredients of these “special diet foods” that you’re eating.

Are they full of chemicals?

If so, then they are not natural foods. They are processed, man-made foods that have been sold to us as the “cure” for weight loss because they are low in calories.

But are they high in nutrition?

Are they alive and vibrant with color?

Are they fresh and will they die quickly if left out in the open?

Do they leave you with radiant energy? If not, then they are not natural or nutritious. And that’s what I find about most of these special diet foods that they’re telling us to eat.

They may be low in calories, but they are high in chemicals and they leave us starving for more nutrition and nourishment on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

But do not worry my friend, there is a way out of this dieting disaster. There is a natural approach to weight loss that works.  It’s the approach that I discovered over 8 years ago…

It’s the approach that helped me finally jump off the diet-program insanity train, and gave me the body and health that I’ve always wanted. It’s also helped thousands of other people too. Give it a try.
